EARL KOCH KILLED BY FALLING TREE

Earl Koch, 27, bulldozer operator, was fatally injured Saturday, while working in Locust Grove township. A tree which was being removed, fell across his machine, striking him on the head. Edward Coffey, who was working with him, called help to take him to the hospital in Shenandoah, where he lived until about noon, Sunday. It was thought that his condition had improved Sunday morning, but death came suddenly from concussion and hemorrhage of the brain. His injuries were confined to his head, with only slight bruises on his body.

Earl Willard Koch, son of William and Irene Koch, was born in Farragut, Iowa, March 1 1923, and passed away at Shenandoah, Iowa, July 23, 1950, at the age of 27 years, 4 months and 22 days. At the age of two years he moved with his family to Belgrade, Nebraska, where he attended to public schools. In 1940 the family returned to Farragut.

He was united in marriage to Helen Frances Coffey of Hamburg, August 22, 1945, and to them three sons were born, Kyle, age 4; Keith, age 2 and Earl Francis, age 3 months. He is survived by his wife and three sons, his parents, one sister Betty and a brother Larry, both at home, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Locust Grove and burial will be made in the St. Paul's cemetery, but the date has not been set, due to the fact that Mrs. Koch's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Coffey, who are on a vacation trip to the west coast, have not been located.
