HAMBURG - Daniel Alfred Kingery, 64, of Hamburg died Oct. 28 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1939, to Earl and Martha (Armstrong) Kingery. Dan also had another family; the Tiemeyers. Homer and Joan Tiemeyer included Dan in their holidays and because of them he taught his own children to love and to look forward to the holiday traditions. Homer and Joan also took him on vacations with them and their children: Mike, Terry, Sandy and Jon. They also enjoyed playing cards and bowling together. "Uncle Dan" spent countless hours at their home. Homer was his brother.

Danny had a lot of passions: fishing, gardening, cooking and police work. Dan worked for many area farmers and farmed for himself for several years. For the last 16 years he was chief of police for the City of Hamburg Police Department and has been involved in police work since 1970. Dan was a founding member of the Reserve Deputies of Fremont County, a former volunteer for the Hamburg Fire Department, and a past member of the Masonic Lodge. He thoroughly enjoyed a good cup of coffee with good friends.

Survivors include his children: Brent Kingery and wife, Stephanie, of Council Bluffs, Kate Kingery of Omaha, and John Kingery and wife, Brooke, of Hamburg; granddaughters, Cailee Ann and Madison Lea, both of Hamburg; a brother, Calvin of Grinnell and a sister, Doris of Green Valley, Mo.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ray and Roy Kingery; a sister, Flora, and a set of twins.

Visitation with the family will be tonight from 7 to 9 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg. Memorial services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hamburg with the Rev. Blaine Pritchett officiating at the services and the burial will be in the Hamburg cemetery. There will be no viewing.

Memorials may be offered to the Daniel Kingery Memorial Fund.
