Funeral services for Virdie Lenora (White) Barr were held from the Shull Funeral Home Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Corbett officiating. Vocal music was by Mary Elizabeth Dahlgran and Vivian Shull with Mildred Stubbs accompanist.

Presiding at the memory book was Alma Powell and flowers were cared for by Caroline Tysor and Barbara Dankof.

Casket bearers were Mielen (Bill) Gray, Lowell Goodin, Charles Hurst, Don Manrose, Orville Dragoo and Ben Shull with interment in the Riverton cemetery.

Mrs. Barr was born Jan. 4, 1880 in Neosha, MO., and passed away at her home in Riverton Sept. 17, 1967 at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 13 days. Mrs. Barr was the oldest child of William and Mary Jane White. She moved to the family farm in Fremont County at the age of six weeks and lived her entire life in Fremont County.

She was baptized in the E. Nishnabotna River and was a member of the old Baptist Church. She was later active in the Methodist Church until her health failed.

She was united in marriage to Harvey Colwell Barr on Dec. 25, 1900. To this union, one child, Leta, was born.

Mr. Barr preceded her in death in 1939. She was also preceded by a brother, Lester and two sisters, Myrtle (Chris Christenson) and Maude.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Leta Clipston, Riverton; three grandchildren, Mrs. Orville Dragoo, Shenandoah, John Clipston, Los Angeles, CA and Shirley Dale, Council Bluffs, five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Harry Goodin of Sidney; nieces and nephews.
