Will of Gersham Teatsworth (filed Sept 12, 1885)

I Gersham Teatsworth of Farmer City, Fremont County, Iowa, being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament.

I direct that all just debts and claims against my estate be paid as early as convenient.

I give devise and bequeath to my wife Mary J. Teatsworth the home house and lots to wit: Lots No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12 and sixteen feet off of the east side of lot No. ten in Block No. Three, Farmer City, Fremont County, Iowa. And all household goods and furniture belonging to my estate, and the interest on all moneys and credits belonging to my estate, subject to the following conditions. I give devise and bequeath the above described property and the interest in all moneys and credits of my estate to my wife Mary J. Teatsworth for her benefit use and support so long as she remains my widow, but in case my wife should marry I then direct that my estate shall be equally divided among my legal heirs.

I appoint my wife Mary J. Teatsworth Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. Also declare all former wills made by me annulled and void. Witness my hand this 1st day of June A.D. 1885...Gersham Teatsworth.

Signed by the said Gersham Teatsworth in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other at his express request have signed our names as witnesses hereto

Additional information from census records.

In 1880 Gersham Teatsworth and Wife Mary J., both b. in New Jersey were living in Compromise, Champagne, Illinois with son, John 31, b. IL; son Blumer 28, b. IL; son Wm.R.20 b. IL and dau. Arminta 17 b. IL and mother-in law Elizabeth Smith 75 b. in NY her parents also b. NY.

By 1900 son Wm. R. is living in Mills County and sons Blumer and John are living in Fremont County.
