Last Will of Samuel McCaughanI, Samuel McCaughan of Riverton Township, Fremont County Iowa by occupation a farmer, do
make this my last will.I give devise and bequeath my estate and property both real and personal as follows, that is to say:
I give my son James McCaughan of Fremont County Iowa the homestead in Riverton and Fisher
township, Fremont County Iowa also all moneys and credits impliment live stock grain personal
property of every kind and description owned by me at the time of my death subject however to the
following restrictions to wit:That my son James McCaughan shall pay without interest within one year after my decease the
following bequest to wit: To my daughter Isabelle McCaughan of Fremont County Iowa One
Thousand Dollars ($1,000). To my daughter Sarah McCaughan of Fremont County, One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000) and to my daughter Eliza McCaughan of Stark County Illinois Four Hundred
Dollars ($400). To my daughter Martha Turnbull of Fremont County Iowa One Hundred Dollars
($100) To my stepdaughter Mrs. Elizabeth Corance of Henry County Illinois Five Dollars ($5). To my
step daughter Mrs. Belle Anderson of Stark County Illinois Five Dollars ($5) and I hereby make
constitute and appoint my son James McCaughan of Fremont County Iowa by occupation a farmer
executor of this my last will.In witness whereof I have signed sealed and published and declared this instrument as my last will
at Farragut Iowa February 27, 1885. Signed....Samuel McCaughanThe said Samuel McCaughan of Farragut Iowa on said Twenty seventh day of February 1885
signed and sealed this instrument and published and declared the same as and for his last will and
testament and we at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have
hereunto written our names as subscribing witnesses. Signed: Geo. E. Gurney, Geo C. FlemingState of Iowa, Fremont County I A. Cowles, Clerk of the District Court in and for said county hereby
certify that the foregoing will of Samuel McCaughan was at the February term of the District Court
of said county on the 18th day of February 1872 duly proven and admitted to probate in the Court.
