Obituary 1925: Bernadiena (Bertha) Boelman
Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1925, the news of the sad and untimely death of Mrs. Tony Boleman, southwest of Meservey, came with shocking suddenness to the friends and relatives in the community. Mrs. Bendine (Koenen) Boelman was born in Franklin County, near Chapin, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1885. In Sep. 1913, she was married to Mr. Tony Boleman. She leaves to mourn,her devoted husband and seven Children, the oldest being about 12 years of age and the youngest only several hours, at the Mother's passing out of this life. She also leaves to mourn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aeiko Koenen; five sisters, Mrs. Henry Dirks, Mrs. Fred Blau, Mrs. William Kaduce, Jennie and Anna Koenen; also six brothers, Harm, Jake, John, Joe, Henry and Aeiko; together with a host of relatives and friends who regret to hear of her demise. She was 39 years, 10 months, and 28 days old at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held at the Meservey Reformed Church on Friday, Oct. 16, 1925 conducted by the Pastor, after which the body was laid to rest in Meservey Cemetery.
