Obituary: George Henry OLDAG, Mason City Globe Gazette;
SHEFFIELD — George Henry Oldag was born December 24, 1930 in Postville, Iowa, a son of Harold A.and Christine (Froning) Oldag. He was baptised in the Lutheran Church. At a young age his family moved
to Sheffield where he attended School. George entered the U.S. Navy and served for 30 years as a Diesel
Mechanic.
On October 18, 1952 George was united in marriage to Alberta (Berdie) Koenen in Hampton. After heretired from the Navy, they moved back to Sheffield. Berdie died November 23, 2003. George moved into
an apartment in Mason City shortly after that.
George was devoted to his family; with his wife he attended Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield.Together they enjoyed visiting Casinos. He was active in the Sheffield Lions Club and the American
Legion. Spare time was spent hunting and fishing which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He died Friday, May 27, 2005 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. He was 74 years old.
George is survived by his 2 daughters: Deborah Kay (Richard) Millard, Mason City; Jackie Dee (Lee)Cutler, Greene; six grandchildren: Kimberly, Tony and Bethany Millard; Amber (Rob) Cameron; Ben and
Brandon Cutler; 3 great-grandchildren: Kaylee, maya and Nora and one on the way; 1 brother: Dean
(Ardella) Oldag, Rockwell; 2 sisters: Linda Miller, Sheffield and Mariellen (Bill) VanBlaricom, Florence, AZ
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Berdie, and brother-in-law Roy Miller.Retz Garup Funeral Home, Sheffield was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Reformed Church, rural Sheffield, with the Rev. ArtZewart presiding. Music: Lyla VanHorn-Organist, Krystal Erickson-Soloist; "Sentimental Journey", "Now
Is The Hour", Congregational Hyms "Rock Of Ages" and "Amazing Grace".
Church Ushers: Maynard Koenen, Stewart Riggins; Honorary Casketbearer: Harvey "Bud" Eudy;Casketbearers: Duane Meyer, Dennis Meyer, LeRoy Meyer, Ronnie Meyer, Larry Doane, Jim Miller and
Jim Quinlan; Military Honors: United States Navy Harlow Ray Massee Post #277 American Legion;
Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield, with veteran's rites at the graveside.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Retz-Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield.
