Alexander - The last rites were held here Wednesday for Mrs. Hauke Suntken. The funeral arrangements were in charge of E. Ray Green of Hampton.
Mrs. Hauke Dirksen Suntken was born July 16, 1875 in Aurich, Germany, a daughter of Klass Dirksen and Gretje Dirksen. At the age of four she came to this country with her parents, settling east of Ackley, Iowa where she spent her childhood. On February 19, 1897 they moved to Alexander.
She was united in marriage to Harm Suntken on April 2, 1902 by Rev. Fred Bosch, pastor of the Zion Reformed Church at Chapin. They moved to a farm northwest of Alexander where they lived for six years, then moving to a farm east of town where they lived until her husband passed away in January of 1918.
She then moved to Alexander where she resided until her death November 18, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband and five infant boys. One brother, Klaas Dirksen, also preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Alice Suntken and Helen Suntken, at home; one brother, Dirk Dirksen in Alexander and two sisters, Mrs. Etta Piel of Alexander and Mrs. Dick Brower of Aplington.
