Soren Hansen Dies In Des Moines Hospital Sunday
Soren Hansen, age seventy-eight, of Des Moines, former Franklin County resident, died Sunday morning at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, following a five day illness. Cause of the death was a stroke.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 o’clock at the Luther Memorial church, in Des Moines, and 2:00 o’clock at St John’s Lutheran church, southwest of Hampton. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Soren Hansen was born December 1, 1875, in Fyn, Denmark, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Hansen. He was married to Miss Stena Hansen, in Denmark, October 28, 1900, and they came to America shortly after their marriage, settling in Franklin County in Hamilton township where they farmed for thirty-four years. To this union three children were born.
After retiring from the farm, they moved to Eagle Grove and lived there until moving to Des Moines seven years ago. He was a member of the Luther Memorial church, in Des Moines, and was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran church here.
Mr. Hansen is survived by his wife, a son, Einer Hansen, of Hampton, and two daughters, Mrs. John Christensen, of Hampton, and Mrs. Donald Nervig, of Des Moines. Also surviving is a brother, Jens Hansen, in Denmark, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
