An Intoxicated Man Killed
by the Cars at Ackley, IowaKILLED BY THE CARS
Special Dispatch to the Dubuque Times
ACKLEY, July 5 – Harry Stout, late of Reading, Pa., and recently in the employ of the Central R. R. of Iowa as a track hand, was killed here today. The unfortunate man had not got over the Centennial celebration of yesterday, and was evidently intoxicated. He laid down under a car on the transfer track to sleep. Conductor Young and engineer Miland not knowing that anyone was under the car, were not responsible for the result. The engineer stopped after the wheel of the tender had passed over the body. Stout lived three hours after the accident, suffering great agony.
