Bernita A. Pals/Kreitlow, 95, of Meservey, most recently of the IOOF Home in Mason City left this world to join her loved ones in heaven August 14, 2017. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at First Reformed Church in Meservey with Rev. Rodney Meester presiding. Interment will be at the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton.

Bernita was born the daughter of Agusta and Neeskea Janssen Prilipp February 8, 1922 at the rural farm home near Meservey. She graduated from Meservey Consolidated School.

Bernita was united im marriage to Daniel Pals on March 30, 1940. They started their life together farming near Meservey for a few years and then later moved into Meservey. Daniel started his career with the Skelly Oil Company, owning and operating the Skelly Oil bulk gas plant. After Daniel’s death, she married Melvin Kreitlow with which they spent 25 years together until his death in 2004. She spent many years cooking at Meservey School, restaurants and worked at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. She was a member of the First Reformed Church and RCW in Meservey. She enjoyed many family travels to northern Minnesota on fishing trips and local camping with family.

Bernita is survived and will be missed greatly by children: Lois Faye (Duane) Diggs, Schertz, TX and grandchildren Julie Biggs and Warren Walker; Delbert L. Pals, Mason City and grandsons Marty, Lance and Scott Pals; Harlan (Rosemary) Pals, Clear Lake and granddaughters: Krista Holmes and Emerald Pals/Jenn; Daughter-in-law: Pam Pals, Thief River Falls, MN and granddaughters Jennifer Ario and Brenda Bruggeman; Son: Keith (Kristine) Pals, Thornton and grandchildren Amy Titler, Annette Pals and Brian Pals; Debra (Tim) Martin, Fairmont, GA and grandson Jason Martin plus a number of great and great great grandchildren. Bernita is survived by one sister Elvira Kuhlers of Meservey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, (Augusta had a fatal farming accident in the fall of 1921 so Bernita never knew her father), step-father Ernest Unverferth, husbands Daniel Pals and Melvin Kreitlow; son Curtis, daughter-in-law Ronda Pals, sisters Mabel Lauen and Ruth Waddingham, brother Elmer Prilipp, brothers-in-law John Lauen, Wayne Waddingham and Clarence Kuhlers and sister-in-law Cora Prilipp.
