Gloriann Lane (Robinson) was born in Ogallala, Nebraska on February 4, 1930 and passed away on January 3, 2015 in Vancouver, Washington. She was the last of nine children born to Addison Buffalo and Barbara Robinson (Zochall). She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joni Wilbanks and Virginia Rogers and brothers Douglas, Don, Dennis, Elliott, Richard, and Paul. Gloriann graduated as a valedictorian in 1948 from Washougal High School. She received her nursing degree at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. After meeting Leland Lane on a blind date, they were married on August 31, 1952. They had three children: Denise Lane Downing (Mark), Roderick Earl Lane (deceased), and Francesca Lane Rasmus (Ronald); and two grandsons: Cameron Downing and Joshua Rasmus. Mrs. Lane worked as a nurse for 10 years before retiring to raise her family and volunteer. In 1982, Lee and Gloriann moved from Forest Grove, Oregon to Hampton, Iowa where she was active in Hospice, the Franklin General Hospital Auxiliary, Chamber Of Commerce Ambassadors, The Republican Party, the T.T.T. Organization, and the Methodist Church.

Her family will remember her as someone who needed to keep busy cleaning, reading, working on crossword puzzles, playing bridge, volunteering, and loving her family. Her cheesecakes and soups were famous in the family. Lee and the kids loved to ski. Gloriann was not a skier but would still accompany them to the slopes and stay in the lodge working on her crossword puzzles or reading. Traveling became an enjoyable retirement activity with her husband, family, and friends. She and Lee went to Russia, China, Western and Eastern Europe, and nearly all of our states. The most memorable trips were a cruise to Alaska with the family and an anniversary trip to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.

A joint Celebration of Life reception for Gloriann and her beloved husband, Lee, will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 NE Greenwood Dr., Vancouver, WA.
