Mette Lund
One of the oldest residents in Franklin County, Mette Elizabeth Lund, 101, died Friday at the Hampton Care Center.

Funeral services will be today (Tuesday) at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton, with the Rev, Milton Eklund officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lund was born January 5, 1884, in Grundy County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Miller. She was educated in Grundy and Franklin counties and attended Grand View College, Des Moines.

On September1, 1905 she married Peter L. Lund.
He died in 1949. The couple farmed in Hamilton Township until 1920 when they went to Solvang, Calif. and managed a Danish Folk School.

They moved to Chicago, Ill., in 1925 to manage a Danish Lutheran Children's Home and returned to Hampton in 1929. They later moved to Des Moines where she lived until 1970 when she returned once again to Hampton.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Ingeborg Schrodermeier, Casper, Wyo.; and Mrs. Lewis (Dagmar) Vidal, Hampton; two sisters, Ida Egede, and Anna Miller, Hampton; one brother, Ezra Miller, Hampton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.
