Thyra H. Oleson, 86, of Hampton, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton.

Funeral services are being held today, June 22, at 10:30 a.m.' at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, with the Rev. Louise Stromberg officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hampton. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton is in charge of arrangements.

Thyra was born Nov. 13, 1912, in rural Hampton, the daughter of Marvis Hansen and Thyra Thor.

She attended Hampton High School in Hampton and Grandview College in Des Moines, and on May 26, 1939, at rural Hampton, Thyra married Floyd Oleson.

She taught country schools and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Thyra also belonged to church groups, was a 4-H leader, and was involved in community activities.

Thyra is survived by two sons, Robert of Guthrie center and Donald of Carroll; one daughter, Mary Tesdahl of Clarion; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents,; her husband; one son, Arlyn; one brother, Herluf; and one sister, Helene.
