James Jorgensen Sr.. 86, of Hampton, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at franklin general Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, with the Rev. Louise Stromberg and the rev. A.E. Norson officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born Aug. 11, 1910, in Hardin County, the son of Peter Jorgensen and Carrie Larsen. He received his education in rural Franklin County schools.

On March 2, 1932, he married Vera Bensen in rural Popejoy.

He was a farmer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and was very active in the church's activities.

He is survived by two sons, James Jr. Of Hampton, Marlyn of Garrison; one daughter, Mrs. Phil (Joyce) Piechowski of Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leo of Mason City, and Harold of Iowa Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
