Edel L. Swadley was born on November 26, 1915 to parents, Niels and Ingeborg (Bjerg) Lund in Hampton, Iowa. She died Aug. 2, 2012 at her home at Rose Arbor in Hermiston.

Edel moved to Hermiston in 1969 from Crystal Beach, Florida where she owned and operated Swadley's Restaurant. She was employed at Eastern Oregon State Hospital as a food service worker for 8 years and retired in 1980. She was a member of Hermiston First United Methodist Church. She loved golf, bridge, scrabble, and cribbage. She was an avid sports fan. Her main love was growing plants and flowers.

Edel is survived by sons Charles of Williamsburg, VA, and William of Highland, UT, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Vita, brother Laurids, and infant daughter Rita.

Disposition was by cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial gifts to the Hermiston First United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
