LATIMER — Diane Karen Grandt, 54, of Latimer, entered into her eternal home Thursday (Oct. 2, 2003) at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at John's Lutheran Church, 1207 Indigo Ave., Hampton, with Pastor Mary E. Peterson officiating. Burial will take place in the St. John's Cemetery in Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, 320 East St. in Latimer, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.

Diane Karen Grandt, the daughter of Casper and Mardella (Dreyer) Grandt, was born Aug. 16, 1949, at Lutheran Hospital in Hampton.

She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on Aug. 18, 1949, by Rev. Juhl. Diane was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hampton in June of 1993 by Pastor Joyce Guldager.

Diane attended Access, Inc., in Hampton for many years before entering Hampton Healthcare Center in January of 2001.

One of Diane's greatest memories was when she met Little Jimmy Dickens at the Cattle Congress in Waterloo and was allowed to spend time with him back stage.

She enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics and was thrilled when she won a gold medal in the softball throw. Diane was a Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Diane is survived by her mother, Mardella Grandt, of Latimer; one sister, Sharon Thielen and her husband, Gayhart, of Latimer; uncle and aunts, Kenneth Dreyer and his wife, Betty, of Latimer, Arlene Christman of Yuma, Ariz., Karen Meyer, of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Casper, in October of 1972; her brother, Kenneth, in December of 1973; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
