Elnor Irene Jensen, 90, Coulter, Iowa passed away at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, Iowa on Sunday January 28, 2001.
She was born January 28, 1911 in Grant Township, Franklin County to Guy A Nowell and Anna Christine Skou Nowell. Elnor attended country school and Hampton High School.
Elnor and Peter B. Jensen were united in marriage on August 20, 1930 in Clarion, Iowa. They lived all their married life in and around Coulter. In 1990, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family and friends.
In 1892, they became "snowbirds" and spent their winters in Texas until 1992. Some time after Peters death in 1993, Elnor moved to the Presbyterian Home in Ackley and later to Hampton Health Care Center.
Elnor was a housewife and worked at seasonal jobs for Marshall canning Company and Northrup King Seed Corn Company in Hampton. Before her retirement, she was a cook in the Hampton Health Care Center from 1963 to 1979. She enjoyed handwork such as knitting, crocheting, quilting, ceramics and many small crafts. Also she liked to cook; her grandchildren would say she could make the best rye bread and Christmas candies.
Elnor is survived by 2 daughters and 2 sons; Mary Ann (Jacob) Sailer, Hampton; Karen (Robert) Janssen, Clarksville; Russell, Coulter; James (Marilyn), Hampton; 13 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, 4 sister-in-law and numerous nieces.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers; Kenneth, Glenn, and Raymond; 1 daughter-in-law, Kelly (Mrs. Russell Jensen), and 1 great-grandson.
