Hampton Civil War Vet Dies
Hampton, April 22 - Theodore Thomas, 90, a Civil war veteran, died Thursday at the home of his son-in-law, Ray Towle of complications due to age.

He was born at Leaf River, Ill., Oct. 2, 1844. When 16, he enlisted in Company B of the 92nd Illinois mounted infantry and served throughout the Civil war.

In 1867 he was married to Elizabeth Wagner and a year later they came to Iowa, settling on a farm near Faulkner. Eight years later they moved to a farm in Reeve township where Mr. Thomas lived until two years ago when he moved to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Towle, at Hampton. Mrs. Thomas died in 1923.

He is survived by three of his seven children, Frank L. and Lloy, Geneva and Ralph, Boulder, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. C.S. Fleckner were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ and burial was made at Hampton.

Theodore Thomas - One of the Last of Franklin's Civil War Veterans

Theodore Thomas, one of four of the last remaining members of McKenzie post, Grand Army of the Republic, died at the home of his son-in-law, Ray Towle, at Hampton, Friday last. He was in his 90th year.

Mr. Thomas lived in or near Geneva through many years; leaving Stephenson county, Illinois shortly after the war, locating in Franklin county in 1867. Mrs. Thomas died several years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Towle, died a year ago. Since her death he had lived with his son-in-law, Mr. Towle, at Hampton.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. Three sons survive, T.L. and F.A., engaged in the farm machinery business at Geneva, and Ralph Thomas living at Boulder, Colorado.
