OBITUARY OF CHAS. MINER
Former Sheffield Resident Buried at Old Chapin Monday
Charles Cassidy Miner was born at Kirkland, Ohio, April 13, 1867. In 1869 he came with his parents to Hampton,Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In 1891 he united with the M.E. Church at Chapin, Iowa. Feb 2, 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Gussie Hamilton who preceded him in death February 5, 1901. To this union was born one son, Scott H. Miner. In 1901 he moved to Windom, Minn., where they lived for ten years. They moved to Owatonna, Minn. The 14th of September, 1904, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mate A. Taylor. In June, 1905 they moved to Walnut Grove, Minn., where they lived for ten years. They moved to Owatonna, Min., in the fall of 1919 where he lived until his death, June 3, 1921, at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 20 days.
In 1899 he united with the M.W.A. at Chapin, Iowa. In 1902 he united with the I.O.O.F. at Windom, Minn.
He was conscientious in the church, a loyal member to the orders to which he belonged, a faithful husband, loving father and a devoted citizen.
There are left to mourn his loss, his wife, his son, Scott, and five brothers and four sisters; Azilka M. Parson, of Elbow, Lake, Minn; Mary J. Miner,of Brookings, S. DAk; Wm H. Miner, of Kaposin, Wash; Gilbert O. Miner, of Clear Lake, Iowa; Harry S. Miner, of Earlville, Ill; Delphia E. Inman, of Warroad, Minn; Herbert E. Miner, of Algona, Iowa; Luman A. Miner, of Algona, Iowa; Julia M. Billsborough,of Lone Rock, Iowa.
"He has found a home forever, Through the gate that stands ajar, We will recognize his signal As we cross the narrow bar."
Funeral services were held Monday June 6th, in the M.E. church at Chapin, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.J. Starr and interment was made at Old Chapin cemetery.
