FUNERAL FOR ARMY VETERAN HELD IN HAMPTON CHURCH
Hampton, IA -- The funeral of Orel Ray Jones, 32, who died at Oakdale sanitarium from tuberculosis, was conducted Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ here.He was a veteran of the marine corps, in which he enlisted in 1927. He spent two years in service in Nicaragua, receiving a medal from the president of that country in recognition of his bravery. He returned here after discharge from service and until last April was employed at Hotel Coonley here as clerk.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Marian Jones, Hampton; three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Letha Coad, Mrs. Pearl Garrison, Hampton; Mrs. Gladys Hughes, Carson, Okla., and Archie Jones, Forest City.
Note: In most other references, Mr. Jones was referred to as Ray Jones or Ray O. Jones.
