Eva Charlotte (Johnson) Paullus, 92, of Waukon, formerly of Hampton, passed away April 26, 2010 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 28 at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Pastor David Bernhardt officiated the service.
Eva was born December 2, 1917 in Coulter to James and Laura (Pedersen) Johnson. She graduated from Hampton High School. She was united in marriage to DeWitt Frederick Paullus May 9, 1936 in Hampton. Eva was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. Eva enjoyed being with family and friends, doing crossword puzzles, playing games and taking car trips.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Lou) Kemp of Harpers Ferry; son, Jim (Frances) Paullus of Georgetown, IN; son, John (Mary) Paullus of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter, Joyce Avery (Tom Bowie) of Newton; nine grandchildren, Steve Kemp, Tom Kemp, Mark Kemp, Shari Brick, Shelley Lupo, Mike Paullus, Sara Marrufo, Christina Arend and Cynthia Avery; and 19 great-grandchildren. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, DeWitt Paullus; and three sisters, Harriet Dorf, Vera Schmidt and Hertha Shipper.
