Donald Sylvester Deam was born March 14,1923 to Sylvester "Sal" and Agnes Kammeier Deam in Chapin, Iowa. He graduated from Chapin High School and attended Fayette and Iowa State College in Ames. He entered the United States Marine Corps on June 30, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn. He returned home in November of 1946. He began farming in Chapin on his father's farm.
Donald was united in marriage to Dorothy Kramer Eckhardt on January 9, 1965, in St. Paul Luthern Church at Hampton. His hobbies included raising horses, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of St. Paul Luthern CHurch, Shriners Anchor Lodge 191 of Hampton, and a Trustee of Ross Township.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of rural Sheffield, three children: Mark Eckhardt and his fiancee, Tracy, of Des Moines,Mickie Huisenga and her husband Don, of Dows, Penny Linton and her husband Kern, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; one aunt, Jerine Thomas and her husband, Marvin, of Sheffield: four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Betty.
