THE CHRONICLE, Hampton, Iowa, March 23, 1911, page one:
"Mrs. T. H. Bayliss
"Mrs. T. H. Bayliss, of Chapin, passed away last Wednesday, March 15th, at her home near Chapin after an illness lasting several day.
"Mary Ann Whitley was born at Langandborough, England. In the year 1869 they came to Canada, where they lived for seven years, when they removed to the United States, settling in Franklin county on a farm at old Chapin. The deceased became a member of the Methodist church when very young and was an earnest worker in this church up to the time of her death.
"She was the mother of sixteen children, of which eleven are living, who with the husband are left to mourn her demise. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Chapin last Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Dewitt Clinton of this city, assisted by Rev. Thomas Carson, of Sheffield, and interment was made in the cemetery at old Chapin."
