HAMPTON CHRONICLE, July 2, 1908:
"Aaron Thorpe Little was born in Ashtabula Co., Ohio April 19, 1830 and died at the residence of his son L.A. Little at Winchester, Okla. June 24, 1908 having passed his 78th milestone. In 1859 he and his wife and children came from Ohio to Iowa by team, being six weeks on the raod and located in the southwestern portion of what is now West Fork township removing in 1870 to a larger farm about two miles further west in Ross township. Here he resided until about twenty years ago when he quit the active management of the farm and removed to Hampton. He bought a home on North Bridge street and occupied it until the death of his wife, a few years ago and when the last of the children left home, he broke up housekeeping and has since made his home with different ones in the family.
"Squire Little, as he was universally called, was an honest upright man, who had the respect of all who knew him. In youth he became a member of the Baptist church and about sixteen years ago transferred his membership to the Christian church and died in faith.
"He was married in 1851 to Harriett Gillett in Ashtabula Co., Ohio and they were the parents of eleven children, seven of who are survivors. They are Sumner B. Little of Beloit, Wisc.; Linter A. of Winchester, Okla.; Vernon E. of North Dakota; Mrs. Orinda Cannam of South Dakota; Mrs. Emma S. Lockwood of California; Mrs. Amanda Warner of Waterloo and Mrs. Robert F. Jeffers of this county. Mrs. Little died in August, 1900.
"The funeral services were held sunday at the Christian Church conducted by the pastor Rev. Wm. Baier. Of the children, Linter A., Mrs. Warner and Mrs. Jeffers alone were present."
