The Chronicle, Hampton, Iowa, October 10, 1935, page 13:
"MRS. JAMES A. GREEN DIES
"Funeral services for Mrs. James A. Green, who died at her home on east Fourth Street in Hampton early yesterday morning after several weeks illness, will be held at the family home Saturday at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. W. E. Cleworth, pastor of the Hampton Methodist church will conduct the services and burial will be in the Hampton cemetery.
"Mrs. Green, nee Clarisa Jane Shroyer, was born near Maysville, in Reeve township in 1861. She was reared in that community and attended the rural schools of Franklin county. She was married to James A. Green in 1879, and the couple last year celebrated their fifty-fifth anniversary. They lived on a farm near Alexander for 35 years, but in 1917 they moved to Hampton to their late home. Mrs. Green was a member of the Methodist church and belonged to the church societies. She also took an active interest in her home, and was known by her friends as a loyal neighbor."SURVIVED BY HUSBAND
"Surviving the deceased are her husband, J.A.Green, three sons, Lloyd M. Green of Alexander, Ernest Ray Green of Chicago, Illinois and George L. Green of Chapin: and two daughters, Miss Harriet and Miss Agnes Green, who live at home. One brother, Martin L. Shroyer, who lives in Reeve township also survives."
