HAMPTON CHRONICLE, October 17, 1940:
"Hold Funeral Rites For Mrs. W. S. Heuermann
"Was Member Pioneer Family of Franklin County
"Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church in Hampton for Mrs. W. S. Heuermann, Sr., who passed away at her home four miles south of Hampton, last Saturday. Rev. W. C. Cleworth, pastor of the church was in charge, and burial was made in the Hampton cemetery. Mrs. Heuermann had been in ill health for the past year but recently her condition appeared to be improving.
"Mrs. Heuermann before her marriage was Miss Nettie Jane Staley, and she was born September 3, 1868, in Franklin county and she has been a lifelong resident here.
"She was married at Sioux City, on September 17, 1889, to W. S. Heuermann and they have made their home in or near Hampton for the past forty-five years. Mrs. Heuermann was a member of one of the pioneer families of Franklin county, and her grandfather, Sol Staley, was the first sheriff of Franklin county at the time when Maysville was the county seat.
"Surviving are three children, Mrs. H. C. Bock, of Bradford, William S. Heuermann, Jr., and Mrs. W. S. Little, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Roberts, all of Hampton, and one brother, Sol Staley, of Des Moines."
