Clifford Keith Of Marble Rock Buried Friday.
Clifford Keith of Marble Rock, who had been ill for about a week, died Tuesday afternoon, May 12, at the Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City at the age of 57 years.
Mr. Keith was born January 16, 1891 near Marble Rock and lived his entire life in that community. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Keith. In April 1914 he was married to Miss Alice Hillman, and lived on a farm near town.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Gates; two brothers, Ray Keith of Charles City and Claude Keith of Marble Rock; one sister, Mrs. Will Melugin and two grandsons of Marble Rock. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church with Rev. Alfred Trenerry officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.

#2:FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR CLIFFORD A. KEITH
MARBLE ROCK, IOWA – Funeral Services for Clifford A. Keith were conducted by Rev. Alfred Trenetry Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Bethel Baptist church. Lee Adams sand “No Night There” and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs. Walter Marsh. The profusion of beautiful flowers was cared for by Mrs. Maude Vorhes, Mrs. Wm. Barth, Mrs. Paul Bucklen, Mrs. Galen Gates. Bearers were Mr. Keith’s six nephews: Alton, Roy and Lawrence Keith, Verl, Woodrow and Dalton Melugin. Burial was in Hillside cemetery.
Clifford Alton Keith, the fourth child in a family of seven, was born to Franklin and Mary Etta Dean Keith on Jan. 16, 1891. His birthplace was a farm six and one-half miles southwest of Marble Rock, and his entire life was spent within 10 miles of his early childhood home. He attended two different, country schools, also the public school in Marble Rock. When he reached manhood he engaged in farming, which continued to be his life work. April 22, 1914 he was united in marriage to Alice Francis Hillman.
He served on the trustee board of Union township for a number of years, which office he held at the time of his death. Mr. Keith’s likeable, genial disposition made his acquaintances really his friends. One of his outstanding characteristics was his love of children.
During the war while the husband and father was in service, Mr. and Mrs. Keith made a home for their daughter, Mrs. Charles Gates and little son, Ronald, for two and one-half years, during which time an unusual attachment was formed between the little lad and his grandfather which has lasted through the years.
On March 16th Mr. Keith was stricken with a fatal illness. Although at times his health seemed improved, the improvement was of short duration and on May 18th he was taken to Cedar Valley hospital, where he passed away in late afternoon May 25th.
Mr. Keith is survived by his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Charles Gates of Marble Rock, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Melugin of Marble Rock; two brothers, Claude of Marble Rock and Ray of Charles City; one half-sister, Mrs. Frank Hibner of Charles City; two grandsons, Ronald and Lynn Gates, of Marble Rock, and several nieces and nephews.
