Mrs. J. B. Squier 1922

Mrs. J. B. Squier died at a hospital in Iowa City last Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Word of her death was received in this city that evening and caused sorrow to descend upon th emany friends of this estimable lady. She had been a resident of Estherville a long time and was honored and respected by our people. For some time past she had been a patient sufferer. She was taken to Iowa City about four months ago for treatment with the hope that her heath would be benefitted, but she was beyond human aid and is now at rest from her sufferings. Following is an obituary as handed us by her pastor.

Maude Vivian Morris was born January 11, 1879 in Ogdensburg, N. Y. When but a babe, the family moved to Iowa, locating near Pomeroy in Calhoun county. Here she grew to womanhood. On January 12, 1896, she was united in marriage to John B. Squier. To this union three children were born: Jessie A., Ilda A. and Gail M. , all of whom are living. The family lived near Rockford, Iowa, for about thirteen years, a few years in Dickinson county, and since 1912 have been residents of Estherville. Mrs. Squier passed away July 21 at Iowa City, where she had been in the hospital for several weeks. She was a great sufferer, but ever manifested great patience, rarely making any complaint. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a loyal friend. Of a quiet disposition, she was not as widely known as her splendid qualities would have justified. All who knew her appreciated her Christian character and will feel a common sympathy with the husband and the children in their loss – Estherville Democrat of July 26, 1922
