Laura E. Mckinnon was born at Oconomawoc, Wisconsin on March 2, 1862. At the age of eight years she moved to Kossuth county, Iowa, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Cornwell, where she spent her early years.

She was united in marriage with O.A. Searle in the year 1878. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Hattie Hunt of Winnebago, Minnesota, Archie Searle, also of Winnebago, and Ira Searle of Mason City. Following Mr. Searle's death she was united in marriage to U.H. Mckinnon, in the year 1894, at Bancroft, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Ruth Brayton of Burt, L.E. Mckinnon of Hudson, Mrs. Sadie Maxon of Marble Rock, and Luella who died at the age of four years.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, U.A. Mckinnon, and the children mentioned, also three brothers: A.M. Cornwell, Mankato, Minnesota, E.E. Cornwell, Sioux Falls, S.Dakota, D.D. Cornwell, Canistota, S.D., also 22 grandchildren, besides a host of friends and neighbors who loved and respected this kind, christian woman.

She died at her home in Marble Rock on November 25, 1932, death being caused by appoplexy. She
was a kind and loving mother, devoted to her home and the home circle. At an early age she
became a Christian and united with the Baptist church at Bancroft.

Mrs. Mckinnon was a very meek woman, yet very affable. She stayed close to her home and her
light shone best in that home. She believed a woman's best and noblest work was done in the
home. She was a homebuilder, a successful mother. Because of her labors there her husband and children rise up and call her blessed. She has encouraged and exhorted her children to faith
in the Resurrected Christ. She has stood by her loved ones in every conflict, calm, patient,
trustful and heroic.

It may be strange yet who would change Time's course to slower speeding, when one by one our
friends have gone and left our sad hearts bleeding.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel Baptist church at Marble Rock, on Sunday afternoon,
with her pastor, Rev. George Foster, in charge.
selections were sung by Mrs. Lucy Moore and Mrs. Leslie Faris, accompanied by Mrs. Foster. The
body was laid to rest in the Hillside cemetery.
