CHARLES SMITH DIES AFTER A LONG ILLNESS
Charles Sylvester Smith, 71, passed away at 8:10 o'clock last evening at his home, 602 D Street, following an extended illness. A native of Dane county Wisconsin, he had made his home in Charles City for many years.
Surviving is his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Parker, a grandaughter, Eleanor Parker, of the city and a brother residing in St. Louis. A son, Glen Smith, died in France in 1919, and two sisters and a brother also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p. m. at the Grossmann Funeral Home with the Rev. G. A. Hess officiating. Interment will be made at the Riverside cemetery.Date of death, 21 August 1936
