Cyrus Parker died 9 April 1909 and is buried at Riverton Cemetery, Riverton Township, Floyd Co. Iowa.

CYRUS PARKER DEAD

Cyrus Parker passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Johnson, in Riverton this morning about 9 o'clock after a five week's illness of cancer of the stomach.

He was born in Ohio and was aged 75 years at the time of his death. He had been a resident of this county for 46 years.

He was the father of six children, George Parker, Stephen Parker and Frank Parker, Mrs. Mary Miller of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, and Mrs. Harriet Parker of Carrville, and Mrs. Johnson of Riverton.

The funeral is to take place Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and the remains will be laid to rest in Riverton Cemetery.

Thus another of the old pioneers passes away. Deceased was a soldier in the civil war. He was a highly respected citizen and many old friends and acquaintances throughout the county will regret to hear of his passing away.

OBITUARY

PARKER- Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Johnson, of Riverton, Floyd county, Iowa, on April 9th, 1909, Mr. Cyrus Parker. Cyrus Parker was born in Riley Co., Ohio, May 8, 1834.

He came to Linn county, Iowa with his parents in 1840 and to Chickasaw county in 1854. He was married to Elizabeth Johnson on April 29, 1855, and to them six children were born, three sons and three daughters, S.A., F.H., G.S., Mrs. B.R. Parker, Mrs. J.S. Johnson, and Mrs. J.S. Miller, all of Floyd county, except Mrs. Miller who lives at Bonair, Howard county, Iowa, and all were at his bedside.

He also had four brothers and two sisters; Benjamin and Norman of Nashua, John A. of Floyd county, Frank B. of Boston, Illinois, Mrs. S.A. Cleveland of Nashua, and Mrs. G.W. Bean of Cedar Rapids; one brother and one sister preceding him some years ago.

He enlisted in Co. I 126th Illinois Infantry on the 22nd day of August, 1862, for three years and was mustered out in July, 1865. Mr. Parker was a member of G.W.S. Dodge Post, G.A.R., of Nashua, and retained a lively interest in the organization.

The funeral occurred from the home Sunday afternoon, the Post having charge.

Cyrus Parker was buried in Riverton Cemetery, Riverton Twp., Floyd County, Iowa.
