Obituary
Mary McManus died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ellen O'Dowd on Sixth Avenue on the morning of New Years day at 10:30 in the 68th year of her age.
Deceased had been an invalid for a number of years brought on by rheumatism and other troubles which she patiently bore with christian fortitude and resignation-always willing to resign her fate to the will of her heavenly Father.
Deceased was born near Enniskillen county, Fermanagh, Ireland, and emigrated to this country in 1860, landing in Philadelphia and afterwards coming west with her family and settling in Cerro Gordo county near the new town of Dougherty. For a number of years she taught school in Cerro Gordo and Butler counties.
The past twenty-two years she has lived with her sister. Mrs. O'Dowd in this city. Her funeral took place from her home on Monday, services being held at the church of the Immaculate Conception. Her nephew, Rev. J.J. McGuire of Cuba City, Wis., celebrated high mass assisted by the pastor Father Convery and interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
In a short but eloquent discourse Father Convery paid a glowing tribute to her exemplary and beautiful christian life.
Besides her sister, Mrs. O'Dowd one brother, Thos. McManus of Dougherty survive her.
