Mr. and Mrs. Harry Woods.

The gravity of the most terrible scourge known, in many generations made itself to be most keenly felt in the sudden death of the well known and highly respected Mr. and Mrs. Harry Woods.

Mr. Woods died after a hard struggle with pneumonia, Friday night, and Mrs Wood followed him Sunday afternoon Dec. 15, 1918.

Harry Woods was born at Newport, Pennsylvania, October 22, 1874, and passed to his reward December 13, 1918, aged 44 years, 1 month and 21 days.

At the age of twelve years, he moved with his parents to Chicago, Illinois. When he was about twenty-one years old, they moved still farther west to Dougherty, Iowa.

During his residence there, he made the acquaintance of Clarissa Adelphia Lockwood, daughter of A. J. Lockwood. She was born in Bennezette Township, Butler County, Iowa, and grew to womanhood in the Coldwater Community, uniting with the Coldwater Baptist Church.

The above mentioned acquaintance was the stepping stone to their happy marriage which took place February 28, 1900.

To this union two children were born; Phyliss, aged eighteen, and Leslie, age fifteen. These splendid children survive and are the repetition of the sterling characters which their late parents portrayed.

Mr Wood moved from Dougherty to Waterloo, Iowa remaining there for a time, then moved again to Greene, Iowa where he has resided for the past five years.

During the greater portion of this period he had been in the employment of Mr. Thompson, merchant at this place, although Mrs. Woods has been handicapped for years by poor health, yet uncomplaining and Harry lost scarcely a day's time in more than three years. weaving more strongly each day the ever widening and ever increasing friendship of a legion of people who mourn with his mother, son and daughter, brothers and sisters and relatives the seemingly untimely loss of those so heartily loved.

Because of the prevailing quarantine, brief funeral services were conducted at the residence, only, Sunday at 10:a.m. and Monday at 2 p.m. respectively, by their pastor, L. W. Inman who has served the Coldwater church near Dougherty for nearly fifteen years.

At the later service Rev. Baker pastor of the M.E Church of Greene kindly assisted and cheered our hearts in song.
