Susan Anthony

March 23, 1949 - June 3, 2018

MASON CITY, IOWA - Susan Anthony, 69, of Mason City, died Sunday, June 3, 2018, at her home in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City with Reverend Will Hunsaker officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Denison Room at the funeral home.

Susan Marie Anthony was born on March 23, 1949, the daughter of Gordon Wood and Fern Chambers in Charles City, Iowa. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1967 before marrying Dale “Butch” Anthony Jr. on October 21, 1967. To this union, two children were born, Rod and Brad.

Sue was a stay at home mother until both boys were in school and she began working for Target. She worked on the price change crew for 23 years. After taking a year off, Sue started at Fleet Farm in 2002 where she worked for nine years until her retirement in 2011.

After retirement, Sue and Butch enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time spoiling their grandchildren and baking. Sue was selfless and there was nothing more important than or that ever came before her family. She loved family time, especially holidays. Her laughter was contagious; no matter where she went, the good times, fun and laughter followed. This is why she was so loved and cherished. There was nothing more important in her life than giving unto her loved ones. She built and lived her life for and around her family. Sue left an imprint on everyone that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Dale “Butch” Anthony Jr., Mason City; her mother, Fern Chambers, Mason City; her children, Rod Anthony, Mason City and Brad (Jolene) Anthony, Mason City; five grandchildren, Alexa (Aaron) Cooper, Des Moines, Dillon Anthony, Nora Springs, Drake Anthony, Mason City, Brooke Anthony, Mason City, and Sean Anthony, Mason City; her sister, Roylene (Mark) Kittleson, Nora Springs; her step-siblings, Steve (Sandy) Chambers, and Sandra Winters; brothers and sister-in-law, Jim (Jane) Anthony, Albert Lea, Teresa Miller, Waterloo, Tracy (Amy) Regan, Denver, Iowa, and Tim (Glenda) Regan, Hastings, MN; her nephews, Preston (Christina) Despenas, Eric (Julie) Despenas and Josh Kittleson; as well as many aunts, uncles and friends.
