LaVonne "Bonnie" Merie Ohrt, the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Smith) Ohrt, was born October 21, 1922 in La Porte City, Iowa. She attended Jackson #3 country school outside of Vinton.

After graduation, she went to Waterloo and worked the next 15 years; at Powers Manufacturing, Chamberlain and Rath Packing. She moved to Colorado for a short time, and came back to Iowa to make her home in Charles City, working as a waitress, and later as an Assistant Dietary Aide at Floyd County Memorial Hospital where she retired after 19 years of service.

"Aunt Sues," as she was known by her family was a favorite; her nieces and nephews have many memorable stories, of the time spent with her. She never forgot a birthday, was always fun to be with, and she was a good sport no matter what. Her laugh was contagious at family functions. Her true passion was bowling. Bonnie's "Comet Bowling family" was huge; she had so many friends and great memories of her favorite sport. Her life was full of tournaments, trophies and good times. She continued to bowl the fall league of 2015 at the age of 93.

Bonnie was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was involved in Bible study, Midi's, setting up church service at the various care facilities, and labeling the newsletters were some of her favorite activities with her "church family". Bonnie kept busy in later working years by helping out at her "extended family" at the local miniature golf course, doing ironing and house cleaning. For many years she was also happy to drive grain truck during harvest season for the Toebe family. Bonnie was a member of the American Legion, Moose, V.F.W., and the Salvation Army. Every year she spent time bell ringing, selling poppies, and helping veterans. In her free time, she enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, sewing, and spending time with friends and family.

Bonnie is survived by her brother: Carl (Marilyn) Ohrt in Marion, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Stella Mae(Keith) and LaVonne (Russel); nieces and nephews, Ardith Ohrt of Montrose, MN.; Duane (Pam) Ohrt , of Oelwein; Lori (Ron) Henry, of Janesville; Roger (Lisa) Ohrt, of LaPorte; Sheri (Mike) Swollam, Palo; Scott (Wanda), of Cedar Falls; Mari, of Marion; Kathy (Ron) Clapsaddle of CA.; Dean (Linda), of Traer; John (Sandi) of CA.; Mark (Janet), of MN.; Mardene (the late, Don)Toale, of Independence; Ellen (Dan)Carroll, of Vinton; Julie(Mark)Chmelka, of Souix City; Tom, of Vinton, Teresa (Jeff) Kline, of Cedar Rapids; Tami (Don)Bray, of Vinton; many great nieces, nephews and other family members.
