CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Michael Lee Smith, 60, of Charles City, and formerly of Greene, died November 30, 2016, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A graveside service will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Retz Funeral Home, Greene, is in charge of services.

Michael Smith - Charles City

A Memorial Service for Michael Lee Smith, 60, of Charles City, formerly of Greene, will be held at the Retz Funeral Home in Greene on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain David Andersen officiating.

Michael Smith was born on June 6, 2016*, in Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa, the son of Darrell and Darline (Bangs) Smith and passed away on November 30, 2016, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Mike received his education in the Greene and Marble Rock school districts and later completed his G.E.D. He worked for the Treasure Chest in Charles City, as well as doing odd jobs around town.

Mike was a very kind person that lived a simple life and enjoyed pets. His greatest joy was reading his Bible and studying The Word. He attended the Floyd Gospel Light House in Floyd and The Body Ministry of Christ in Charles City. Recently, Mike was attending church services at the Chautauqua Guest home where he resided.

He is survived by two half siblings: Danny Smith , Nebraska; Brenda Downs, Minnesota; uncle, Fred Bangs of Allison and many good friends.
