CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Vincent "Big Vinny" Bettesworth, 59, of Charles City, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service for Vinny Bettesworth will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Bill Odermann will officiate. According to his wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service.

A visitation for Vinny Bettesworth will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday at the church.

Vincent Carl Bettesworth, the son of Howard and Phyllis (Scheidegger) Bettesworth, was born June 2, 1956, in Charles City. He grew up in the Grafton, Bassett, Nashua and Charles City areas, attending school at Floyd Elementary, Nashua Middle School and graduating from Charles City High School in 1974.

Vinny married Ann Mannetter on December 31, 2002, at their home, but were together for a total of 25 years. This union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Morgan and Brandy.

Vinny was a scrap recycler who enjoyed his work which enabled him to make many friends throughout the Charles City area. He liked watching movies, Westerns, football (especially the Minnesota Vikings), listening to ’50s and ’60s music, spending time with his dogs and cats and playing pool and foosball. Vinny enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and attended several ABATE rallies. He loved his family very much and would support his girls in every activity that they participated in including tee ball, softball and swimming.

Living family members include his wife, Ann of Charles City; daughters: Morgan and Brandy; sisters: Victoria Ries of Belvidere, Illinois, and Virginia (Dennis) Tynan of Charles City; mother-in-law, Martha Mannetter of Nashua; sisters-in-law: Chris Mannetter (Adam Ferch) of Nashua and Melissa (Dan) Fagle of Fayette; stepmother-in-law, Kathy Sierocki; brothers-in-law: Ted Campbell and Mike Sierocki; nieces, nephews and their families: Hope, Tom, Allison and Alex Polak, Stacy and Adam Campbell, Amy, John and Lucas Weishaar, Kelly Tynan, Chelsey and Jason Matthias, Nichole and Chase Leech, Kayla Fagle (Cody Kuehl), Reed Fagle and Austin, Ashley and Adrianna Ferch; along with numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-nephew, James Thomas Polak; and fathers-in-law: Ted Sierocki, Jr. and Ron Mannetter.
