Obituary for Frank Weiner

Francis "Frank" Weiner, 87, of Nora Springs, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016, at home in Nora Springs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, (February 8, 2016) at Holy Name Catholic Church, 507 1st Ave. N.W., Rockford, with Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in Rockford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, (February 7, 2016) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 3rd Street NE, with a rosary beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Scriptural Wake.

Honoring Joe’s memory, memorial contributions can be directed to Opportunity Village, Clear Lake.

Frank Weiner, son of Frank and Kathryn (Grandgenett) Weiner, was born August 16, 1928 in Saint Benedict, Iowa. Frank attended school in Rockford. He was united in marriage to Ann Cooling on August 27, 1949 in Cartersville, Iowa, and to this union six children were born.
Frank spent his entire life in agriculture: farming, custom corn shelling and grain trucking with his brother Don. In 1967 Frank and Ann purchased the Cartersville Elevator in Cartersville. Frank and Ann, along with their children, have operated the business for forty-nine years. Frank was a self-proclaimed oldest grain buyer in Iowa.

Frank was a member of: Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford, and Knights of Columbus, Mason City.
Frank served on many boards in his life time including: First National Bank, Mason City, Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford, Iowa Feed and Grain Association.

Frank enjoyed his summers in Clear Lake and wintering in Arizona, fishing in Canada, family trips to Las Vegas and working at the elevator. Most importantly, Frank loved to have a good time with his large family and friends.

Frank is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ann Weiner of, Nora Springs; three sons, Gary (Sheryl) Weiner, Rockwell; Dick (Barb) Weiner, Nora Springs, Steve (Jill) Weiner, Mason City; two daughters, Janet (Frank) Hanig, Cartersville; Barb (Larry) Rooney, Rockford; nineteen grandchildren, Matt (Christine) Weiner, Plymouth, MN; Brent (Keely) Weiner, Rockwell; Sarah (Andy) Johnson, Rockwell; Lindsay (Kyle) Hildman, Cedar Falls; Dustin (Andrea) Weiner, Ankeny; Bobby (Katie) Weiner, Mason City; Kelli Jo (Jake) Heimer, Nora Springs; Sammy Booth III, Mason City; Charlie Weiner, Nora Springs; Amanda (Jason) Hunt, Cedar Rapids; Abby (Andy) Weiner-Blaisdell, Eden Prairie, MN; Lucas (Melissa) Weiner, Nora Springs; Alanna (Todd) Engels, Clear Lake; Ryan (Bria) Hanig, Mason City; Nick (Andrea) Hanig, Cartersville; Benjamin (Melissa) Rooney, Geneva, IL; Maggie Rooney, Cedar Falls; Mollie (Drake) Ott, Nora Springs; Jackson Rooney, Rockford; forty great grandchildren and three great grandchildren on the way; three sisters, Betty (George) Kuehl, Florida; Marge (Jim) Bahnsen, Mason City; Elaine Merrill, Mason City; brother, Don (Marj) Weiner, Rockford.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, son, Joe Weiner, grandson, Adam Hanig, sister, Ruth Denby and daughter in law, Judene (Dick) Weiner.
