Immaculate Conception Catholic ChurchConnie Rae Benson, 65, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 4, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Connie Benson will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.
Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass on Tuesday at the church.
Connie was born September 9, 1950, in Charles City, the daughter of Bernald and Marvelyn Rice Venz. She was a 1968 graduate of Charles City High School and the Mason City School of Cosmetology. Connie was a hairdresser in the Iowa City area for many years prior to her illness.
Connie liked to dance, do her word search puzzles and cheer for her Hawkeyes.
Survivors include two daughters, Candace Benson of North Liberty and Heather (John) Doyle of Elgin, Illinois; three granddaughters: Taarna Benson and Kenna and Pyper Doyle; three sisters: her twin sister, Carman (Bruce) White of Charles City, Janice (Ken) Morehead of Peoria, Arizona, and Diane (Rich) Jenc of Round Rock, Texas; former spouses: John Cowan and Garry Benson; longtime companion, Harold Neuzil; nieces and nephews: Christol Rouse and Ryan (Shawn) Rouse, all of Peoria, Arizona, Darin (Jenna) Crooks and Dustin (Christie) Crooks, all of Charles City, Nicole (Ralph) Ramirez of Round Rock, Texas and Aaron (Vanessa) Jenc of Katy, Texas.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Dylan DeBruyn.
