Obituary for Dawn Dolores Ueker

Dawn Dolores Ueker, 88 of Nora Springs, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Nora Springs Care Center.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 101 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs; with Pastor David Werges officiating. Inurnment will follow a luncheon at the church, in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Dawn Ueker Memorial Fund.

Dawn was born October 31, 1927, the daughter of George H. and Ida H. (Jensen) Marshall in Nora Springs. She married Wayne L. Ueker on February 16, 1947, at St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Dawn graduated from Nora Springs High School. She worked as the bookkeeper for Ueker Plumbing and Heating prior to working at the Nora Springs Elevator Co-op.

Dawn was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, Bridge Club and 500 Club. She enjoyed bowling, country craft painting, and avidly following the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a wonderful cook; her Thanksgiving dressing was well known and requested in the family. Many people enjoyed Dawn’s animated personality over the years, playing cards and scrabble at the dining room table.

Dawn is survived by two children, Bruce (Margaret) Ueker of Nora Springs and Jodi Ueker of Nora Springs; three grandchildren: Shannon Ueker of Fargo, North Dakota, Lona Ueker of Mason City and Bobby Ueker of Nora Springs; a brother, Howard Marshall of Nora Springs; a sister-in-law, Linda Marshall of Mason City; and special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Bill Marshall; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Marshall.
