NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - James F. Bass, 85, of Nora Springs, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 E. South St., Manly, with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. A church luncheon will follow immediately after the service.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 E. South St., Manly.
Memorial contributions can be directed to James Farrell Bass Memorial Fund.

James F. Bass, 85, of Nora Springs, passed away Monday November 2, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 East South Street, Manly, with Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. A church Luncheon will follow immediately after the service.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, (November 11, 2015) at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 East South Street, Manly.

James was born June 18, 1930 in Lima, Iowa, son of Farrell and Helen (Nelson) Bass. James grew up on his family farm in north east, Iowa and attended school in Fayette, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mary Lamphier on December 28, 1957 in Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette.
James worked mostly as a laborer for construction. He enjoyed being in his garage and tinkering with the various projects he had. He had a great love for his family, spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and playing games with them.
James is survived by his four daughters, Dianna Bass of Rochester, Minnesota, Melissa Bass of Mason City, Pam Bass of Rochester, Minnesota, and Janette Zell of West Union, two grandchildren, Kristin Bass and Austin Zell, two great grandchildren, Halle Bass and Kennedi Frank, two brothers, Richard (Alda) Bass and Gary (Betty) Bass.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Bass, four siblings, Shirley Bass, Beverly Cousins, Robert Bass and Laverne Bass.
