Clara Amelia Simenson was born June 8, 1880 at rural Floyd, Iowa to Erick Simenson and Karine Johnson, the youngest of their four children.

Found in the 1880 - 1900 censuses living on a farm at rural Rudd, Floyd, Iowa:
1880: Erick Simonson 37, Carrie Simonson 32, Martin Simonson 6, Syver Simonson 3, Julia Simonson 1, Anna Johnson 19.

1885: Erick Simminson 43, Caroline Simminson 35, Martin Simminson 12, Sever Simminson 8, Julia Simminson 6, Claira Simminson 3, Clayton Kerlin 18.

1895: Clara Simenson age 14.

1900: Erick Simenson 58, Caroline Simenson 52, Martin Simenson 27, Sever Simenson 23, Julia R Simenson 21, Clara A Simenson 19.

Clara married Henry John Rathjen abt 1902. The couple had 4 children: Cleo Esther (b 1903); Ruth E (b 1905); Lynn A (1908 - 1960); Helen I (b 1910).

Found in the 1910 census at Line, Webster, Nebraska: Henry J Rathjen 32, Clara E Rathjen 29, Cleo E F Rathjen 7, Ruth E Rathjen 5, Lynn A Rathjen 3, Helen I Rathjen 10 mos.

Henry died in August 1910 and Clara moved her children back to Floyd County, Iowa.

Clara married Dexter Witter Dean on May 19, 1915. They had no children.

1930: Dexter W Dean 73, Clara E Dean 49.

1940: Dexter W Dean 83, Clara E Dean 59.

Clara A Dean died June 13, 1945 at Rudd, Floyd, Iowa. She is buried at the Rudd Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, Floyd, Iowa.
