Carol Boggess, 78, of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett and Pastor Jan Tjaden will officiate. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City following the lunch at the church.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Hauser Funeral Home and will continue an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Carol Jean (Cummings) Boggess, the daughter of Lester and Wanda (Kemp) Cummings, was born on January 3, 1937 in Charles City, Iowa. She graduated from the Charles City High School in 1954. Carol is a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. She was united in marriage to Ronald Boggess on September 26, 1953.

Carol devoted 33 years of her life working as a clerk at White Farm. She was devoted to remembering all birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions in her family's lives taking extra care in the cards she picked to send. Carol enjoyed spending her time canning (everything!), feeding birds, planting flowers, bowling, making ceramic ornaments for the family, painting sceneries, and crocheting tops to hand towels.

She played the organ and piano. Carol and her husband did woodworking together, while he built shelves, quilt racks, and birdhouses she would do the finishing on all of the finished projects.

Living family members include her husband, Ronald Boggess of Floyd; two children: Ronda (Carl) Jungbluth of New Hampton, and Cheryl (John) Horrigan of Des Moines; six grandchildren: Tammy (Erik) Altman, Laurie Smith, Megan (Luke) Pankratz, AJ (Carissa) Horrigan, Eric (Jen) Jungbluth, and Sue (Adam) Liddle; nine great grandchildren: Kelsea, Brittany, Taylor, Amber, Devon, Erik, Everett, Zain, and Madden; sister-in-law, Nona Cummings of Charles City; several nieces and nephews; and dog, Lakota.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Boggess; parents; sister, Marilyn Hall; brother, Ronald Cummings; nephew, Rodney Hall; and niece, Becky Martin.
