Irene Lambert, 84, of Garner formerly of Charles City, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Jane Keel will officiate. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. following the lunch at the church at Riverton Cemetery at Midway.
Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 and will continue an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Irene Odell (Walker) Lambert, the daughter of Otis and Isabell (Freebury) Walker, was born on August 5, 1931, in Bassett, Iowa. She received her education in Ionia.
Irene was united in marriage to John Lambert on June 5, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Irene devoted 27 years to the Charles City Public School system working as a cook. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City.
Irene enjoyed crocheting tablecloths, bed spreads and doilies. She enjoyed reading, rummage sales, walking, western movies, dancing (Polka and Waltz), country music, and card games (Euchre). Irene had many interests but her greatest joy was her family and all the time they spent together.
Living family members include her two children: Connie (Richard) Laws of Bellflower, California, and Laura (Jason) Sencer of Mason City; 11 grandchildren: Trisha (Kevin), Cindi, Travis (Nicki), Joshua (Amy), James, Stacy, Samantha (Erik), Amy, Randi (Cole), Beckie, and Zachery; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Pickar of New Hampton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Lambert of Charles City; son-in-law, Jim Virchow of Iowa Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Lambert, Sr.; son, John Lambert, Jr.; daughter, Linda Virchow; sister, Evelyn Peterson; brothers-in-law, Russell Peterson, Virgil Pickar, Sr.; and aunt, Viola Wiltse.
The family would like to thank the staff of Concord Care Center in Garner and Hospice of North Iowa for the wonderful care given to Irene.
