Mary Mehmen, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Mary Lou Mehmen will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Mary Lou (Logan) Mehmen, the daughter of James and Frances (Roethler) Logan, was born February 18, 1929 in Charles City. She lived in Charles City her entire life and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Academy.

On August 6, 1949 Mary united in marriage to Carl Mehmen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The couple made their home in Charles City where they raised their two children. Mary worked at the cabinet shop in Charles City after her marriage and in housekeeping at the hospital for 18 years before retiring in 1988.

Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Ministry of Praise and St. Teresa Circle. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and praying the Rosary whenever possible day and/or night. Mary was a very loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Living family members include her two children: Connie (Richard) Buttjer of Charles City and James (Debra) Mehmen of Charles City; five grandchildren: DeAnna (Tony) Katcher, Jeffrey (Angie) Buttjer, Heather (Ben) Chatfield, Shane Mehmen and Ashley Mehmen,; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary (Sarah) Katcher, Jacob Katcher, Kelsey Katcher, Connor Buttjer, Bode Buttjer, Gavin Mehmen, Ava Studer and Colton Marsili; and two great-great grandsons: Brayden and Lucas Katcher; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; three sisters: Nora Meighan, Florence Kirsch and Evelyn Houdek; and her brother, Ed Logan.
