June Lokenvitz, 89, of Charles City, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for June Lokenvitz will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home Monday, September 7, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

June Elizabeth (Hammel) Lokenvitz, the daughter of August and Vera (Wirth) Hammel, was born June 11, 1926 in rural Butler County, Iowa. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1944. June was united in marriage to Darryl Lokenvitz, Sr. on September 2, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in the Charles City area and raised their 10 children. June worked at the Trading Store on Main Street in Charles City for 19 years. She was a sewing master, and many people came to her for advice and lessons in sewing.

June was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Heritage Club, Cedar Side Club and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, flowers, birds and cats. June loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Living family members include her 10 children: Darryl, Jr. (Beth) Lokenvitz of Davenport, Donald (Carolyn) Lokenvitz of Charles City, Paulette (Al) Enright of Ankeny, Roger Lokenvitz of Charles City, Richard Lokenvitz of Charles City, Paul (Lora) Lokenvitz of Ionia, James (Suzanne) Lokenvitz of Charles City, Jeffrey (Teri) Lokenvitz of Charles City, Lori Gregg of Charles City and Larry Lokenvitz of Charles City; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hammel of Charles City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darryl Lokenvitz, Sr. on December 5, 2001; brother, Dean Hammel; and twin infant great-grandsons, Samuel and David Lokenvitz.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
