Service Date: Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church

William L. Mooberry, 63, of Charles City, died July 31, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor James Carpenter and Chaplain Janet Dorenkamp from Hospice of North Iowa will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Sunnyside Memory Garden at a later date.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home Monday, August 3, 2015 from 5 to 8:00 p.m. and will continue an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

William L. Mooberry was born on January 11, 1952 in Charles City, Iowa to Clinton and Louise (Dailey) Mooberry. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1970. On November 5, 1993 he was united in marriage to Mary Meyer at the Little Brown Church. With this union Bill became a father and later a grandfather. Bill (Uncle Billy) so loved being with his nieces and nephews that his new role as a father came to him naturally.

Bill had a passion for flying hot air balloons. He enjoyed going to balloon rallies throughout Iowa. Bringing his fellow balloonists to Charles City to fly their balloons was one of his greatest joys in ballooning.Bill held a range of employment from machine shops to him and Mary owning the Uptown Café.

Bill's most rewarding employment was his time spent working for Winnebago Industries. Working with all the employees and putting out the best wood products in each Winnebago was important to him. This workmanship carried over to his garage where he made beautiful tables, bookshelves, and other furniture for his family. Bill proudly served in the Army. Bill was a member of the American Legion and the AmVets. He was proud to serve on the Honor Guard for other veterans.

For many years Bill (he donned the Santa suit) spent Christmas Day with fellow Veterans visiting nursing homes and the hospital. He especially enjoyed handing out gifts to young children who had to spend Christmas in the hospital. Bill was such a caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife and daughter Melissa (Brian) Boess and two granddaughters, Sadie and Jessica Boess of Hawkeye, Iowa. Survived by brother Dale (Diane) Mooberry of Osage, Iowa. Two sisters: Janice (Lloyd) Robbins of Ionia, Iowa and Barb (Dave) Lensing of Charles City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mooberry of Leesburg, Florida; sister-in-law, Kathy Hagel of Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-laws, Jerry (Marilyn) Bouillon, Louis (Barb) Bouillon, sister-in-laws, Joyce (Cal) Wood, JoAnn (Darrell) Schmidt and Kandi (DeWayne) Eddy, and Connie Bouillon; many nieces and nephews, and a special dog friend, McMoo.

Proceeding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Gerald Mooberry and Dennis Mooberry; and two sisters: Sharon Maulsby and Connie Jenn.
