Nancy Jo Eberling - St. Ansgar

Nancy Jo Eberling, 61, of St. Ansgar, passed away May 27, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society, in St. Ansgar. Funeral services were held for her family on May 30, 2015, at Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield with Rev. Ken Livingston of First Grace Baptist Church presiding. Graveside services were held at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Nancy Eberling was born September 1, 1953 a daughter of Verni Samuel and Loretta Margaret (Schlee) Eberling at the family home in Lime Springs, Iowa as one of 11 children.

At a very young age Nancy was stricken with meningitis and severely disabled. Her mother cared for her at home for many years until under instructions from her doctor, Nancy was placed at the Woodward State Hospital School until being moved to the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar in 1973. Nancy was known to all the staff and received exceptional care for the last 42 years.

Surviving family members include her sisters and brothers: Diane Ballhagen, Sheffield; Fred (Edna) Eberling, Sheffield; Gloria Holthous, Suwanee, Georgia; Cheryl (Dave) Warner, Greene; Susan (Bennie) Owen, Waterloo; Patricia (Terrel) Tribble, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Roger (Sandra) Eberling, St. Ansgar; sister-in-law: Donna Dunlap, Rockford; many nieces and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; brother: Gary Eberling; sisters: Jolene Eberling & Judith Donahue and brother-in-law: Don Ballhagen
