James C. Schears – March 18, 1878 – September 20, 1945

ATTACK FATAL TO SECTION FOREMAN OF MARBLE ROCK
JAMES C. SCHEARS FOUND ON RIGHT OF WAY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.. SURVIVED BY WIFE, THREE CHILDREN.

James C Schears of Marble rock, age 67, foreman of the Charles City Western Railway, was found dead on the road right of way, two miles southwest of Charles City, Thursday afternoon about 1:15 o’clock.

Death was reported to have been caused by a heart attack. He had been last seen about 12:20 o’clock by members of the crew of the railroad. He had been cutting weeks along the right of way when he suffered the heart attack.

Mr. Schears was born at Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, on March 18, 1878. He is survived by Mrs. Schears, one son, Joseph Schears of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and two daughters, Mrs. Iantha Beksel of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Lena Capelle of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

There are also three sisters living, Mrs. Susie Schaffenberg, Mrs. Barbara Yochum, and Mrs. Kate Margruf, all of Slinger, Wisconsin.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Charles City, under the direction of the Rev. Walter M. Fritschel, pastor of the Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City, and burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.
